LEGAL NOTICE

The West Hartford Town Council at its meeting held on July 12, 2001, adopted the following ordinance amending the penalty structure for violations of Chapter 168 of the West Hartford Code of Ordinances:

WHEREAS violations of the Parking and Traffic Regulations contained in the West Hartford Code of Ordinances carry with them a number of differing fines and penalties; and

WHEREAS, these fines and penalties have not been amended for a number of years; and

WHEREAS the failure to adjust these fines and penalties upward over time may have diminished their deterrent effect.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF WEST HARTFORD THAT Section 169-13 of the West Hartford Code of Ordinances is hereby repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof:

The following shall be considered violations and penalties for improper parking and, as such, are prohibited acts:

A. Specific acts and penalty.

1) The following are prohibited acts: (The penalty for violations in this subsection is $18 = $14 + $4 fee)

a.) Failure to deposit a coin in any parking meter; any car parked at a parking meter in which the time has expired; or parking over the legal time at any parking metere by inserting an additional coin to extend the legal parking time.

b.) Parking on any street at any time between 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.

2) The penalty for all the offenses set up under §168-13A(1) shall be $14 + $4 fee = $18.
