2011 Revaluation

| FAQs | Timeline|

The Town of West Hartford has started work for the revaluation, as mandated by Connecticut State Statutes. These statutes require all municipalities to revalue all of its real estate not later than five years after their last revaluation. The town of West Hartford’s last general revaluation was completed as of October 1, 2006. Consequently, our next general revaluation is scheduled for October 1, 2011.

The primary purpose of a revaluation, which is a mass appraisal of all real property within an assessment jurisdiction, is to eliminate any assessment inequities that may have developed since the implementation of a previous revaluation. This is accomplished by updating the assessments of real property to reflect their fair market value.

The Assessment Department will be sending out data‐mailers to all residential properties intermittently throughout the months of March and April 2010. Please take a moment to review the data‐mailer as it contains information that is currently on file for your property. Once you have reviewed this information, please sign/date and return the form using the enclosed self‐addressed stamped envelope. Your cooperation is integral to the overall success of the project.
