The mission of the Community Services Department is to maintain and preserve the Town’s infrastructure and to ensure the quality of private development in the community through a system of building inspection, zoning enforcement, land-use planning and economic development. The department is also responsible for road and public building construction and renovation. In addition the department provides a link between the Town of West Hartford and its citizenry by providing public information through the use of a variety of communication tools to deliver a clear, concise and complete message.

The department is organized into the following divisions. Under each section you will find a staff directory, detailed information of services and permits, applications and fees.

The Department provides administrative support to the Town Plan and Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, the Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission, the Design Review Advisory Board, the Conservation and Environment Commission, and the Economic Development.
