West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District's
"C.H.E.F.S." Award Presentation

The West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District is pleased to announce the winners of the 2003 CHEFS Award. A presentation of certificates was made by John Schrade, the Director of State Programs, U. S. Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at 3:00 p.m. at West Hartford Town Hall.

The 2003 CHEFS Award was developed to recognize food service establishments in West Hartford and Bloomfield that have demonstrated to the Health District a knowledge of the importance of proper Cooking, HACCP (federal food safety recommendations), and Excellence in Food Safety.

This recognition program has been developed to identify and support food service operations that use food safety concepts to protect the consuming public within the Health District's jurisdiction.

The following food service establishments voluntarily completed an extensive application to the program to be recognized for their commitment to food safety and sanitation. These facilities have demonstrated that they routinely monitor and control food temperatures; implement federal food safety concepts; offer on-going food safety training for their employees; improve food service inspection rating scores over time; and have a policy restricting ill food workers:
