Non-Sale
of Liquor
A temporary liquor permit is not required when alcoholic beverages are
provided to guests at no charge, as with an "open bar" or "BYOB".
Sale
of Liquor
A temporary liquor permit is required when the function includes
the sale of alcoholic beverages. The word "sale" is defined to include
selling a ticket to a function where alcohol will be offered. Temporary
liquor permits can be obtained from the Department of Liquor Control,
State Office Building, Hartford, Connecticut. A copy of the temporary
liquor permit must be submitted to the Conference Center office at least
seven business days prior to the event, and an additional copy must
be posted at the event..
Insurance
The town requires the renter to have liquor liability insurance for
all events where liquor is provided to guests. The renter will be charged
an additional premium through the town’s special events policy subject
to the approval of the insurance underwriter. For business related events,
the renter has the option of providing a liquor liability endorsement
to his/her existing commercial general liability policy or purchasing
a liquor liability policy.
