Department Awards

The West Hartford Police Department has a long standing tradition of exemplary performance demonstrated by police officers and civilian personnel in the course of their duties. The Police Department also recognizes citizens that have acted unselfishly by assisting the police department or fellow citizens in some way. Each year, these dedicated professionals and civilians are recognized for their integrity and civic duty at an awards ceremony in May.

The following officers and civilians received awards at the West Hartford Police Memorial Week Award Ceremony on May 18, 2007.

Chief's Medal of Valor: Officer Samuel Ferrucci

Departmental Citation: Officers Brett Balisciano, Anthony Anderle, and David Strzalka

Police Merit Awards: Officers Brian Wallace, Gary Ciarleglio, Thomas Lazure, and Sean Walmsley

Unit Citations: Patrol Division - Officers Brett Balisciano, Joseph Creaco, Nicholas Roman, and Emanuele Birritteri Community Interaction Team - Sergeant Douglas Frink, Officers Anthony Anderle, Steven Hinckley, and Andrew Wamester

Distinguished Service Medal: Officers Stacy Thomas and Shawn DiBella

Employee Service Award: Staff Assistant - Donna Allen

West Hartford Citizens Award: Mr. Farhad Aminzadeh, Ms. Trisha Gerity, Lt. Stan Sliva (Ret.), Mr. Robert Patrissi, Ms. Victoria Wasserman, Mr. Edwin G. Castillo, Mr. Edwin E. Castillo, Mr. Paul Thompson, and Ms. Melissa Molin.

Years of Service Award: Chief James J. Strillacci (30 years), Captain William Erickson (30+ years), Captain Jack Casey (25 years), Detective William Kinahan (25 years), Detective Jeffrey Glaude (20 years), Officer John Bruetsch (20 years), Staff Assistant Gail Ziff (20 years).
