Police
Explorers
Application
Process: We accept new explorers twice a year (June and
September). Explorers range in age from 13 - 21 years old.
Both groups will start their new recruit class together in
the first weeks of October. Simply show up one Thursday night
and observe one of our meetings. Parents are also welcome
to attend and any police explorer advisor will be happy to
answer any questions you might have. All our meetings are
held at the West Hartford Police Department located at 103
Raymond Road in the Police Explorer Room. If you have trouble
finding the room, just stop at the Main Desk area of the police
department and an officer will direct you to the room. At
this meeting please give us your name, address and telephone
number so that we can contact you when we are ready to start
the next new recruit class.
We
do require potential explorers to complete an application.
Due to some of the sensitive nature of the police profession
and the materials explorers have access, to a back ground
check will be done which may involve our checking your criminal
history, interview of school advisors, officer recommendations
and personal recommendations. It's really not as bad as it
sounds!
If
you have any further questions or concerns you may reach the
Explorer Post through the departments voice mail system. Simply
call 523-2002 and then punch in the number for the Police
Explorer Post Voice Mail which is 8166. The post's box is
checked at least once a week.
