Q.
Is there a town ordinance prohibiting overnight parking on
our public streets?
A.
Town ordinance (sec. 168-13) prohibits parking on the streets
of West Hartford between the hours of 2:00 am-5:00 am. A
fine of $18 may result. We realize that there may be occasions
when there is need for an exemption, such as driveway maintenance,
out-of-state visitors, etc. For an omit consideration, please

Where is the West Hartford court?
A.
G.A. (Geographical Area) #14 is located at 101 Lafayette
Street, Hartford (566-1630).. The Community Court is located
at 80 Washington Street, Hartford (756-7020). Juvenile Court
is located at 920 Broad Street, Hartford (566-8289).These
courts deal with issues of criminal matter.

How do I get a restraining order against an individual?
A.
Restraining orders are issued by a judge in the civil court
(Family Division of Superior Court) to protect a victim
from threatening, harassing, assaults or any attack by a
respondent. A restraining order can be granted immediately
by a judge and can be a temporary or extended specific period
of time order. There is no cost to file an order but there
is a fee to be paid to a sheriff to serve the papers on
