Leaf Collection Information, Year Round

Leaves are a state mandated recyclable item and cannot be collected with the trash. Leaves are collected at the curb every fall for composting. Leaves should be raked to the curb (not into the street), free of foreign material (i.e. rocks, trash and branches), or put in biodegradable paper leaf bags. Watch the newspapers for notification of collection in your area or call 570-3714 (after October 1) for the latest information on leaf collection schedules. Residents may also take leaves to the Recycling Center. If leaves are brought in plastic bags, residents must empty the bags and dispose of the bags.

Regular hours of operation for the Recycling Center are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Hours for the Recycling Center are extended during the leaf collection season. Click here to see more detailed information regarding hours of operation for the Recycling Center.

Please note: The Town only provides leaf collection in the Fall. Outside of that timeframe, residents must dispose of the leaves. Options are:

1.

Compost leaves in their rear yard.

2.

Till the leaves into the garden, or mulch into the lawn.

3.

Bring the leaves to the Recycling Center at Brixton Street.

4.

Have the leaves removed by a contractor.

Leaf compost is free to town residents and is available while supply lasts, at the Recycling Center. Leaf compost is also delivered in quantities of 1 - 6 cubic yards for a $75 delivery charge. (There is a maximum of 6 cubic yards per property, per season.) Compost is free. Deliveries are restricted to a first come, first served basis. Call 561-8100 to schedule compost deliveries.
