Apr 4, 2012 :  Kevin R. McAllister named 2012 Fire Fighter of the Year

Fire Fighter of the Year Named: Apparatus Operator Kevin R. McAllister has been selected by his peers for the 2012 Fire Fighter of the Year Award. McAllister was honored at the Exchange Club’s Public Safety Night and was presented with a proclamation by the Town Council declaring April 4th as “Kevin R. McAllister Day” in West Hartford. 

Kevin was chosen for his brave actions, at great personal risk, to save an accident victim from a burning car while off duty in Vermont.  Windsor Chief of Police said there was no question in his mind that the victim is alive because of the heroics of McAllister. Kevin also was nominated for the Carnegie Heroism Award, a prestigious national honor bestowed upon a select few who risk their lives to save others.
