Town
Meeting, Public Hearing Notices
Council meetings are usually held on the second and fourth Tuesday of
the month. The town council agenda is usually printed in the "West Hartford
News" the Thursday prior to the upcoming meeting. Council agendas are
also posted outside the town council office and on the internet under
Town Council & Government Business. Public hearing notices must appear
in the paper at least 7, but not more than 14 days prior to the hearing.
Where
to Get Town Policy Information
Any resident may get a copy of the town charter and council rules free
of charge. Just call or visit the town clerk’s office. All ordinances
that govern the town are in the Code of Ordinances books (e.g.: parking
violations, noise...). The code is available for review at the town council
office and West Hartford libraries.Zoning ordinance copies are available
from the town Plan and Zoning office, room 214 in Town Hall. Town council
minutes are transcribed verbatim and kept for review in the town clerk’s
office and the town libraries. Annotated agendas summarizing action taken
during town meetings are posted outside the town clerk’s office and on
the internet: Town Council & Government Business.One town council meeting
a month is televised live on WHC-TV, channel 5. Reruns are also aired
on WHC-TV.
