Historic Preservation Awards 2003:
Unlock the Past, It's the Key to the Future

Linda Howey, chair of the West Hartford's Sixth Annual Historic Preservation Awards Program, is pleased to announce that four properties were honored at a town hall ceremony on May 15th. Mayor Jonathan Harris presented the awards as winners were introduced by Mary M. Donohue, chair of the West Hartford Historic District Commission. (Click here for a photo of the commission)

The Historic Preservation Awards Program was introduced in 1998 to encourage sensitive renovations to any town properties constructed prior to 1945 which maintain traditional value. The theme for 2003, "Unlock the Past, It's the Key to the Future," perfectly describes the work of the four winners who not only restored deteriorating historic properties for the future but made them workable for the way we live now.
