Frequently
Asked Questions
Q.
Where do I pay for or protest a parking ticket?
A.
Payment of a town ordinance violation must be made within
14 days from the date issued. A check or money order should
be made payable to Parking Violations, Town of West Hartford.
Cash payments may be made only at the Customer Service Center
at Town Hall. Parking Ticket Violation Protest forms are available online or 24 hours a day from the
Police Department, 103 Raymond Road, or from the Tax Office
located off the lobby in Town Hall.
Q.
Where, when and how do I get a copy of a police incident or
accident report?
A.
In most cases, a copy of an incident (excluding arrests)
or an accident report is available after five business days
from the date of the incident. Such copies are available
from the Police Records Division during the hours of 8:00
am and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Arrangements for
the pick up of a report may be made by phone (523-2000)
or in person at police headquarters (103 Raymond Road).
Copies can also be ordered (prepaid) through the mail. The
cost per page is 50 cents.
Q.
How do I go about setting up a Neighborhood Block Watch or
having a Home Security Audit performed by the police department?
A.
To arrange for either of these programs, please contact
the Community Relations Division of the police department
at 523-2013. A simple phone call will put you in contact
with one of our officers who will schedule a security audit
and guide you through the steps of organizing a neighborhood
block. Both programs help the police department provide
for a safer community.
Q.
How do I schedule a child safety seat inspection?
A. Contact the Community Relations
Division at 523-2013 to schedule an appointment. Appointments
are held on Wednesdays. To make an appointment please call
Wednesday mornings between 8 AM - 8:45 AM. The department
currently has three certified technicians and one National
instructor. In Connecticut, about 95% of all child safety
seats are installed improperly. One of our technicians will
check your installation of the seat in the proper manner,
teach the owner how to install the seat, check the condition
of the seat (recall information, too) and make recommendations
and suggestions to further protect your child while in the
car.
