Hartford Police Department Organization Application to Solicit, Canvas or Sell House-to-House Certificate to Solicit, Canvas or Sell House-to-House Your rights as a consumer when approached by a solicitor: 1) You can post your property "No Soliciting". Once your property is posted, solicitors should not try to contact you. If they do, please call the West Hartford Police Department at 523-5203. 2) Please make sure you call us whenever you are approached by someone who is rude or unprofessional. We will follow up with the company and pull their permit. 3) You can also contact the Attorney General's Office to register a complaint about the company. They will also follow up, and with enough complaints, will not allow a company sell in Connecticut. We are required to issue a permit to any company that wishes to solicit so long as their contract is in compliance with state statute and they properly fill out our application form. I do not believe we can ban them from West Hartford. |
