Active Duty Service Exemption
Any Active Duty Service Personnel is entitled to a $4,500 exemption from their property assessment as long as he or she
- have served for at least 90 days active duty. (A copy of the orders to verify the service is needed)
- are a West Hartford residents as of October 1st
- and own either the real estate or motor vehicle as of October 1st.
Also, a full exemption of a motor vehicle is available for a West Hartford resident forced by the military to be out of state and has their vehicle with him/her at the out of state location. Please send the Town Assessor your address if you would like an application for the out-of-state motor vehicle exemption.
