FIRE FIGHTER OF THE YEAR

Every year the American Legion Hayes-Velhage Post 96 recognizes an outstanding Fire Fighter who, through the performance of his or her duties, has brought credit to the Fire Department, the Town of West Hartford, and to him or herself.

This year Gregory W. Hill has been nominated by his peers and selected as Fire Fighter of the Year for 2007. Greg was nominated for his attitude, knowledge, common sense and pride in his job. He was also selected for his tireless commitment as coordinator of the Public Education Program that reaches out to the school children with in-service programs about fire safety. Fire Fighter Hill is also a proud member of the Honor Guard.

Fire Fighter Hill joined the Department in 1998 as a Fire Fighter. He lives in Wethersfield with his wife Crystal and 3 children. On February 26th he was joined by family, friends and colleagues as he was recognized in a ceremony hosted by The American Legion, Hayes-Velhage Post 96.

Deputy Mayor and Public Safety Committee Chair Charles (Chuck) Coursey presents Fire Fighter Hill with a Proclamation declaring February 26, 2008 as Gregory W. Hill Day in West Hartford and, on the Town's behalf, offers his appreciation and thanks for Greg's outstanding service to the community.
