Records Division

The Records Division has a staff of seven individuals who are responsible for payroll for the department as well the maintenance of personnel files, which includes tracking sick days and vacation periods. The Records Supervisor has the additional responsibility for storing and processing evidence and property seized or turned into the police department.

The division also serves an important public function, providing copies of accident/case reports, permits and record checks as requested.

Copies of police reports/accidents can be picked up in person for a charge of $.50 (50 cents) per page. The reports are usually available 5-7 days after the incident. You may request copies by mail. There is an additional $1.00 charge. We suggest you call the Records Division to find out the cost of a report you might need.

Fingerprinting (for employment, immigration, etc.) is available for a fee of $5.00 per card. We do not supply the cards. They can be obtained from the agency requesting you be fingerprinted. The hours are: Monday through Saturday 10 AM - Noon and Wednesday 5PM - 7PM (due to staffing availability).

A records check (sometimes needed for employment or housing) costs $5.00 and only shows arrests of a person by the West Hartford Police Department.
