SPRING YARD WASTE COLLECTION COMPLETED
The 2009 Spring Yard waste collection program that began on Monday, May 4th was completed on Friday, May 15th. Any resident with yard waste bags remaining may bring their bags to the Recycling Center on 25 Brixton Street, from Monday to Friday, from 7:30 AM until 4 PM and on Saturdays from 8 am until noon. The Recycling Center will be closed on Saturday, May 23rd and Monday, May 25th for the Memorial Day weekend. Residents can bring plastic bags with yard waste to the Recycling Center at 25 Brixton Street, West Hartford, but residents will have to dump the contents out and take the plastic bags with them as they are not recyclable.
Yard waste includes leaves, pine needles, pine cones, acorns, twigs, small branches, dead plant matter from last year’s annuals and perennials and thatch. It does not include: soil, rocks, large branches or grass clippings.
