West Hartford Offers Parcxmart Card™
for Parking and Retail Purchases
West Hartford becomes the third municipality in the state of Connecticut
to adopt Parcxmart Technologies’ regional City Card Payment System
The Town of West Hartford announces the launch of electronic payment card for parking meters and participating local merchants on April 1, 2009. The Town of West Hartford program will offer consumers a cashless payment option for on-street parking, plus deliver rewards and local discounts as a unique debit card at participating merchant stores.
The Parcxmart Card™ is a multi-application smart card. Its secure chip provides payment software for on-street parking, debits at local merchant businesses and a rewards calculator that can carry up to ten separate merchant rewards’ programs per card. Additionally, merchants participating in the network earn commissions when they sell or reload value onto the cards. These cards can be reloaded with cash, debit, or credit up to $500 in value. Parcxmart will also provide a West Hartford card website with program information, local merchant directories and a merchant coupon hosting service. “This is about main street marketing. As cardholder and merchant participation increases the local currency carried on Town of West Hartford cards becomes more and more valuable as a payment system tied to local spending habits. This is good for local economic development”, said John Regan President and CEO of Parcxmart Technologies Inc.
